The very first incidence to Sons Of God is the fact that for everyone God has called, He gave birth to them. This was the argument Lord Jesus held with Nicodemus in John 3:4, 9-10 that if he was the teacher of Israel, a respected teacher and ruler, this point should not be oblivious to him! Nicodemus retorted, "How can a man be born when he's old, shall he enter into his mother's womb the second time?" Which meant the Lord's standpoint view was unknown to Him - that the second birth was necessary to draw near God. Not just it but also mandatory everyone experienced being born again, this time, by God.
This is the same principle, precept applied through all generations - born again. God deals with no one, not intimately unless such has been born by Him. This injunction runs from Adam's primordial times to Abraham covenant times, from Jacob son of the Fear of Isaac to John the Baptizer down this present time, everyone who's ever appealing to God was born by Him. The second birth which makes a Son of God is a necessary stepup to seeing God, His kingdom or entering into our own reality.
Just as the first birth through our parents involved pains and shedding of blood, this second birth does also. The death of Jesus on the Cross at Calvary which came with immense pains, blood and water typified the holy procedure of being born the second time. Please note as well, anyone who refuses to be born again by God will burn again in death.
It's very expedient knowing that Son of God is a terminology and does not imply any gender partiality or initiate any form sexual interaction. Even though every man has a female in him and every woman a male, knowledge that many have abused and became corrupt by it yet, let it be clear to you that God our God does not have any special beings, so specially descended from heavenly throne. All of God's children were born of a woman but became God's when they're born again.
Son of God simply means lowered version of God, God appearing in flesh. This was why Master Jesus emphasized "Son of God" and most times would condescend to call Himself "Son of man" than His actual status. For God is a Spirit which cannot be seen. And if for any reason He becomes seen appearing in flesh and bones in human form, He's then a Son. A step lower than God though in its full powerful form is called "Son" lower even than the rank of angels.
