LUNAR SUMMONS - WORSHIP, DIVINE SERVICE
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. Hebrews 9:1-10 AKJV
Worship is a divine service or say, anything done in the honour and respect of God. For Adam in Gen 2:8 &15, his worship was to work and tend God's garden which was created as a small plot adoption technique - SPAT. It was to enable him know to master the universe till the time he'd be sent to the ends of the earth for greater exploit. Surprisingly, God didn't even build him a temple for worship neither did He command him to do so. That wasn't needed since the whole earth is God's footstool, 1Chro 28:2, Isa 66:1. Another word used interchangeably for worship is divine service. In other words, a service is NOT divine unless it is carried out in a body.
Romans 12:1 says, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Here, what makes anyone's service reasonable is that it's presented in a BODY, with three keynote warnings - a living sacrifice, holy and acceptability. Why the body, you may want to ask. Now the real reason for salvation is to save mankind from the prevailing corruption of the earth, Psalms 16:10. Until the body is saved as the soul is, you are not safe nor saved. Jesus Christ died, resurrected and ascended to heaven bodily. It wasn't His soul or spirit that went to heaven but the spirit, soul and body.
Not only that, there was more evidence of His bodily ascension - Matt 28:5-7, Acts 1:9, 1 Corin 15:6, where more than 500 persons saw Him as well, shortly after His resurrection. In other words, the BODY is an important part of our salvation pact. If your body is still causing you to sin, brother, you have no part in God and may have been alienated from Him. The flesh which is a blessing was not given to us by God to make us sinners but as proof that sin can be mastered - Gen 4:7. So, God through Paul says today, I plead with you by My mercies - numerous mercy of all involuntary actions - sleeping and waking, breathing and irritability, ingesting and digesting, to give your body, not soul...
A sacrifice is an end to a life. When something is sacrificed, that same thing stops existing. It is not yet a sacrifice if there's still a means to reproduce what is taken. Until all hopes to have it back are lost, then a sacrifice is in place. Lord Jesus, though He was rich, yet for our sake by sacrifice, became poor. Every thought around having children, raising a family or even somewhere to lay His head vanished. He ended that life, thought or imagination about the way of humans. Oh yes, that's a sacrifice. Gone and never hopes to have it back.
