THE MAN OF GOD
When God chooses a man to be with and then anoints him by all Himself for some special works, that man is a MAN OF GOD. He is set aside for good works just as the Spirit of God descended on Lord Jesus at His baptism as a dove and then REMAINED on Him – John 1:32, and He went about doing good.
It is easier for men to have the holy anointing through laying of hands by men, who have also consecrated their lives to God's service than WAIT to be anointed from on High. It is not even of him that wills nor of him that desires but of God who decides to show mercy!
All through the holy injunctions, only few men were named by this office and you can count them, you can name them. Some lost their names, some their origin, others, their immediate families, etc. Each of them have their own juicy experience we can glean from: Moses, Elijah, Elisha, King David, Christ Jesus, even Timothy, etc.
Having their names in the Book of books (Bible) could have made them have their names published in our hearts forever. None of them acted nor longed for this recording. If there were no records, we might not have heard about them – we as 'gentiles' and members of the same body of Christ.
In all, what differentiate them from others in the same service is the ANOINTING. It is safer to assume our prime office in the faith – of brother and sister – than to acclaim this office of a Man of God.
A man of God is known for God, not money. He is called by the name of God – a man of God, so he must flee these things (1 Tim 6:11)! Affluence does not in any way define or describe the man of God, one whose dealings are with the One invisible God. He has no business entangling himself in civilian matters or monetary affairs. Apostle Paul charged us, "RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FROM ALL THIS!"
Has God touched – anointed you from His highest heaven? Then flee the pursuit of money. "For the love of money is the root of all evil". The love here means the continual thought and rest on money. You might not eventually have it because money is quite unrighteous and does not respond to mere wishes, but that your heart is set on money for help, your ministry is stained.
The rule is simple for the man of God: Do not set your heart on money. Do not plan your life on money. It defiles the man who has been anointed by God. The Lord consigned Iscariot to that empty pursuit because of the condition of his heart and we all know end of his story.
The man of God has God Himself appointed as beacon for the salvation of many, to draw people closer to God while the man draws Him, and even as light to many generations.
